Dannys Passion

"Wanna Lover" had it's first ever radio broadcast on Sunday 16th July 2006, when it was included in a 3 hour "Tribute to Joe Meek" show on Radio WBWC in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

The first ever UK airplay was 3rd February 2007 on London based station Resonance 104.4FM, in a show marking the 40th anniversary of Joe Meek's death.

Both radio shows above, included a live telephone interview with David Peters.

40 years on, Danny's Passion finally got their first radio airplay, in the USA and then in the UK.

"Wanna Lover" was played on David Garwood's show in February 2011 on Source 96.1 FM

David Peters also appeared on David Garwood's show on Source 96.1 FM on 17th September and 5th October 2011, telling the Joe Meek story over 4 hours. David also told the whole Dannys Passion story. At that time, these two shows had highest listening figures on Source FM

The story of the group, and their photograph appeared in the March 2007 edition Record Collector magazine. Reports and photographs appeared in their Local newspaper "The Falmouth Packet" in 1966 and 2006

The group's recording of the Geoff Stephens song "The World's Not Big Enough" is the only known recording of this song. (Geoff Stephens had many big hits during the 1960s, including "Winchester Cathederal", "There's A Kind Of Hush", and many more), unfortunately, it remains in the Tea chests. The publishers demo recording (Which I am lucky enough to have on a CD) was sung by Peter Lee Sterling, who also recorded as Daniel Boone.

On 31st March 2020, the total number of hits to this site, since it was created on Dec 19th 2008, is 78,883
Total hits for February 2020 was 721. The total hits for March 2018 were the highest ever for a month, an amazing 1,509.

The groups original demo tape for Joe, was recorded on a reel to reel tape recorder in the basement of The Woodlane Social Club, in Falmouth, where they rehearsed. Among the songs recorded was a four-part harmony version of Jagger / Richards song "As Tears Go By", which, to my knowledge has never been recorded by any vocal group, It is not known if this tape is among the Tea-Chest Tapes.

Currently, this site is the 81st most googled Joe Meek site, up from 99

Out of all the groups that Joe Meek recorded, that have not had a record released, Danny's Passion must now be the best known group
