"Wanna Lover" had it's first ever radio broadcast on Sunday 16th July 2006, when it was included in a 3 hour "Tribute to Joe Meek" show on Radio WBWC in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
The first ever UK airplay was 3rd February 2007 on London based station Resonance 104.4FM, in a show marking the 40th anniversary of Joe Meek's death.
Both radio shows above, included a live telephone interview with David Peters.
40 years on, Danny's Passion finally got their first radio airplay, in the USA and then in the UK.
"Wanna Lover" was played on David Garwood's show in February 2011 on Source 96.1 FM
I also appeared on David Garwood's show on Source 96.1 FM on 17th September and 5th October 2011, telling the Joe Meek story over 4 hours. I also told the whole Dannys Passion story.
The group's recording of the Geoff Stephens song "The World's Not Big Enough" is the only known recording of this song. (Geoff Stephens had many big hits during the 1960s, including "Winchester Cathederal", "There's A Kind Of Hush", and many more), unfortunately, it remains in the Tea chests. The publishers demo recording (Which I am lucky enough to have on a CD) was sung by Peter Lee Sterling, who also recorded as Daniel Boone.
A new Wedsite for Cornish groups from the 1960s and 70s has been set up, go to the links page, where there is a direct link to the site. Dannys Passion are included in the site.
At the 31st January 2012, the total number of hits to this site, since it was created on Dec 19th 2008, is 15037.
Unbelieveable but true! Dannys Passion are better known now than in 1966 ( all thanks due to the power on the internet)
This website has been selected by the British Library to be included in its Web Archive.
The groups original demo tape for Joe, was recorded on a reel to reel tape recorder in the basement of The Woodlane Social Club, in Falmouth, where they rehearsed.
Among the songs recorded was a four-part harmony version of Jagger / Richards song "As Tears Go By", which, to my knowledge has never been by any other vocal group, It is not known if this tape is among the Tea-Chest Tapes.
